TVGH-NYCU Research Team Unveils Breakthrough in Lung Adenocarcinoma: New Mechanism Identified to Overcome Drug Resistance

肺癌是台灣十大癌症死因之首,其中非小細胞肺癌佔約 85%,肺腺癌是最常見的樣態,儘管治療技術日新月異,但仍然無法克服腫瘤轉移與抗藥性。對此,榮陽交團隊發現,腫瘤微環境中的 NKX2-1 會引發腫瘤細胞免疫細胞叛變,NKX2-1 表現量的降低,和腫瘤惡化與不良預後有密切相關,此研究的突破有助於克服抗藥性。

A research team from National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) and Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH) has made a groundbreaking discovery in the fight against lung adenocarcinoma. The team identified a key mechanism behind tumor growth and metastasis, which could potentially lead to strategies that overcome drug resistance—an issue that has plagued the treatment of lung cancer despite advancements in medical technology.

NYCU Unveils Groundbreaking Interface Technology to Revolutionize Anti-Counterfeiting Security for Credit Cards and Passports

國立陽明交通大學電機學院光電工程學系助理教授黃耀緯,領導團隊發表一項突破性超穎介面技術,能有效提升防偽標籤的色彩表現,解決目前防偽標籤顏色單調和色散效果不理想的困境,大幅提升信用卡、護照等重要身分辨識文件的安全性。這項研究成果也以Topology optimization enables high-Q metasurface for color selectivity為題,榮登今年8月《奈米通訊》(Nano Letters)的封面文章,獲得全球學界與業界高度關注。

In a significant advancement for security technology, a research team led by Assistant Professor Yao-Wei Huang from the Department of Photonics at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) has unveiled a novel metasurface interface technology. This breakthrough promises to significantly enhance the color performance of anti-counterfeiting labels, addressing current issues of limited color diversity and suboptimal chromatic dispersion. The innovation dramatically bolsters the security of critical identification documents such as credit cards and passports. The research, titled “Topology Optimization Enables High-Q Metasurface for Color Selectivity,” was featured as the cover story in the August edition of Nano Letters, drawing significant attention from academic and industrial sectors worldwide.

NYCU Outstanding Alumnus Archie Hwang Donates NT$1.2 Billion AB-BNCT Equipment, Boosting Cancer Care

國立陽明交通大學傑出校友、漢民科技創辦人兼董事長黃民奇先生,為感謝母校栽培,於10月22日捐建母校一套由台灣禾榮科技公司自行研發的加速器型硼中子捕獲治療設備,含場地裝置設定費價值共新臺幣12億元,並且由臺北榮總提供興建場地。

Mr. Archie Hwang, an outstanding alumnus of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) and founder and chairman of Hermes-Epitek Corporation, generously donated accelerator-based Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (AB-BNCT) equipment developed by Heron Neutron Medical Corp. (with over 80% ownership by Hermes-Epitek), to support Taiwan’s medical advancements through NYCU on October 22. Valued at NT$1.2 billion, including installation costs, the equipment will be installed at Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH), with future management and use overseen by the joint NYCU-TVGH team, marking a new milestone in Taiwan’s cancer radiotherapy.
